The “right” choice of boat to rent depends on a correct allocation of priorities in relation to:

As a general rule, if what interests you most is the journey, and you want to spend a relaxing time on board, then choose a sailboat. If your focus is on the destination, check out the motorboats. For an exclusive experience of the Setúbal coast, we recommend renting a catamaran for a day. Finally, we have boats available for parties, with capacity for groups of 11 to 250 guests. If you still have questions, just ask!

Bring comfortable, seasonal clothing with you. Don’t forget that it’s often 10 degrees colder in the water, so bringing a jacket or windbreaker is never a bad idea. We also recommend that you bring a hat, sunscreen and sunglasses, as well as a bathing suit and towel.
When you use Arrabida Sea Ventures to rent a boat in Setúbal, you can bring any food and/or drink you like on board, as long as it’s “simple” food and you avoid red drinks!

“Bad weather” doesn’t mean no sun, it means that there are no safe conditions for a peaceful walk.

If on the day before the rental it turns out that the weather conditions are not favorable, we will contact you in order to reschedule for a date favorable to both parties. (If this is not possible within a few days, the customer will receive a voucher for the contracted service valid for 24 months).

If the client, after being warned by our team to reschedule, decides to take the risk and keep the date of the rental, or if the weather conditions worsen from one moment to the next, without there being any way of predicting it, and the crew decides that it is better not to go out to sea, you will be reimbursed in full.

Fuel is included in the boat rental with skipper. When you rent a boat without a skipper, fuel is not included in the rental price and you will have to fill up the tank before checking out. Please contact us if you would like an estimate of the cost of fuel to book this boat.

Most of our boats in Setúbal are available to rent with crew only, in which case there is no need for a license.

We have some boats that you can rent without a skipper, in which case you will need to have a sailor’s license or a local skipper‘s license, depending on the boat you want to rent. The letter will be requested on the day of booking, and to avoid “misunderstandings” we require you to send the letter/license in pdf format before accepting payment in order to avoid any unpleasant surprises on the day of rental.

ps: In the case of crewed rentals, this question does not arise.

In the case of rentals without a skipper, the boats available are insured. If the boat is damaged when it is returned, the boat insurance may cover up to a certain amount and the rest will be taken from your deposit. It should be noted that most incidents are resolved out of court.

Be honest with yourself, only you know the answer. Normally a boat 20% above your current experience is acceptable, going from “donkey” to “horse” can go wrong.

Although it’s rare, sometimes we may have to cancel a reservation. We understand that this can have a significant impact on your plans and will never happen without verifiable justification. You can rest assured that, in the unlikely event of this happening, you will automatically receive a refund or we can help you find a similar or better boat to rebook.
